A wedge wire support grid provides a false bottom in a lauter tun in many breweries.
The stainless steel wedge wire screen can be made in sections to fit through a man-way. The outside of each section is banded with steel bar and lengths of steel strips are supplied to provide a seal between sections. Typically, the screen has .030" to .040" slot openings to hold back the solids and allow liquids to pass through.
Wedge wire screen panels have a wide range of applications, the main applications are sieving and filtration. It can also be used as decorative materials in some buildings. The detailed application fields are as follows:
Vibrating screen decking.
Surface water intake screens.
Fish diversion screen panels.
Hatchery screens.
Grain drying screen.
Malt kin or germination floors.
Decorative materials.
Flat surface.
Excellent filtering performance.
Accurate distance between supporting profile.
Welded production process for solid and strong structure.
Good mechanical properties.
High strength.
High load capacity.
Corrosion and rust resistance.
Temperature resistance.
Chemical stability.
The solids, not the false bottom wedge wire screen, form a filtration medium and hold back small solids, allowing the otherwise cloudy mash to run out of the lauter tun as a clear liquid.
